Out of the running for 2009...

Well gang, I just got confirmation back from Animazement saying that Destiny Revival will not be appropriate to show at their convention due to the copyright risks involved. I'm still going to give Otakon a try and see what they say but it looks like showing Destiny Revival at this year's cons and other cons in the future are a no-go.
I can't say that I'm not disappointed in their decision but it's probably for the better. After all, I'm trying to revive a game series that hasn't been formerly introduced in the US in over a decade...and yet that tiny little thing called "copyright" makes fans' dreams just die out like the Dodo bird.
...but I'm going to put one question out there and I want you to think about it, for yourself as the reader:
Did copyright stop the countless thousands of doushinji Sailor Moon mangas from being sold in Japan? No. Then, how come my game series is any different then that? No, I'm not selling the game, but it's on the same principle. If Toei Animation or PNP or Miss Naoko herself asked me to stop making the series, I happily would. At least I would know at that point that I got their attention and that our "message" has reached the "big guns," good or bad.
With that being said, I'm not going to quit Destiny Revival, nor is my team, but I have notified them all of what's going on. We are all aware of the risks we're taking to bring Sailor Moon back to the countless thousands of fans that support the series (and the few hundred of so that this game series has generated) and we do appreciate that support. It's by that fact alone that we're still working on the game series and to be honest, that's all we'll ever need.
