Destiny Revival at Glass City Con

Whew, talk about an exhausting but rewarding weekend! We're back from Glass City Con and we had a blast!

For Glass City Con, we were located just outside of the gaming area which made us the very first thing that people saw and what better sight to see not one, but TWO Dreamcasts lined up to be played. Also, our Sailor Moon-clad Wii had a few look overs.

Due to several unforeseen technical difficulties, I was unable to do the full layout of my presentation for Glass City (including releasing the Glass City Demo of Classic) but I still think people had fun playing the classic Dreamcast games like Dead or Alive, Capcom vs SNK, Marvel vs Capcom 2 and an exclusive title called Cannon Spike featuring Cammy from Street Fighter.

I was able to have people play Sailor Moon Plus on one of the Dreamcasts and Code Name Sailor V on the Wii. Obviously, Sailor Moon Plus was the most played with several people coming back just to try to beat the game! We also announced our first three indie game titles, including one that was previously announced several years ago. I will link back to that announcement once it's ready so I don't clog the forum with non-Sailor Moon fan news.

On a good side note, the classic gaming podcast group known as Classic L337 interviewed us and we talked about both Destiny Revival and our transition over to indie games. That was very exciting and especially made the 6 years working on the series well worth it. I will post up a link of the video interview once it's ready on their site.

I will be working on hashing out the demo version of Classic that I did get working on the Wii this morning and will be patching that up for release soon. A Dreamcast port shouldn't be too far behind it. I'll also be posting up pictures as we unpack here and get our gear back together. Again, thanks for all of your support and don't be surprised if you don't see us at Glass City again for Year IV. I hope we get the chance to get another go at it, especially with little to no technical problems

Glass City Edition

As we're getting closer to Glass City, I've been playing around with the Dreamcast port of Sailor Moon Classic. Sadly, with all of the things different with this port (for example, no widescreen support, 16-bit color mode is not supported), I'm having to separate the build from the main build and that will mean that the full game will not be available in-line with Glass City.

However, I will make a compromise and will release the "Glass City Edition" of Sailor Moon Classic on Friday, July the 8th. What you will see in this version is a sample of the new cutscene format, new moves for the characters including run animations and run attack, plus the rolling dodge that made its first appearance in Code Name Sailor V. We will also be including a sample of the latest mode to be introduced in Sailor Moon Classic, the orchestratic mode. This puts a new spin on the game and will accompany the Super Famicom and Genesis modes well.

When we get back from the convention, we will work hard on releasing Classic because we want to move on with the re-release of Sailor Moon R including similar updates and the inclusion of the "Promise of the Rose" sub-story.

Thank you everyone for their support and baring with us during this transition. We will not forget about Destiny Revival because it's still a good test platform for what we will make in our indie games in the future.

Sailor Moon: Destiny Revival at Glass City Con in July!

After years and years of trying, "Sailor Moon: Destiny Revival" will be displayed at this year's Glass City Con in Perrysburg, Ohio in July, courtesy of Distant Star Games!

Now, I bet you're asking yourselves....just who is Distant Star Games?

Well, back in 2005, just as I was finishing up Sailor Moon Plus, I was also making my first appearance on the indie game scene as "Distant Star Productions" at the Midwest Gaming Classic in Wisconsin. (Some of you who have played some of my earliest Beats of Rage mod demos remember this name.) We were announcing our first game by the name of 'Yumi: Samurai Warrior' which was our adaptation of the famous female warrior, Tomoe Gozen, and her impact on the Gempai War, the war that determined the first Shogun of Japan. What made this announcement even more ironic is the fact that we had a publisher lined up who was very eager to release the game and distribute it. A few weeks after I announced this game, plans fell apart and my "team" had fallen apart. At this point, I decided to go back to Sailor Moon and go on like nothing had happened, even though I was very disappointed in myself.

Slowly, with the help of one of the veteran members of Destiny Revival, Meli-chan, we worked on resurrecting Distant Star Productions and focused on creating games that weren't going to be the next "Call of Duty" or "Guitar Hero." Instead, our goal was simple: go back to the basics and resurrect old-school games ourselves. At this point, Distant Star Games was born.

At Glass City, we have a very rare opportunity to present 'Destiny Revival' the way it was intended to be presented, by allowing people to play the games. That's right! We will have two Sega Dreamcasts setup for patrons to play "Code Name: Sailor V" and just in time for the convention, the 4 player version of the newly remastered "Sailor Moon: Classic"!
(I plan on making this game available to everyone shortly before Glass City starts so all of you will be playing the game the same time the con goes will. You're welcome

But that's not all! At this convention, we will be holding an announcement panel slated to be held on Saturday July 9th, where I will talk about the games that we will be producing this year and next year. The whole weekend, we will also be selling T-shirts and posters based on the games we announce at the convention to promote ourselves and you can watch me work on one of the games on Sunday!

Now, depending on how well this convention fairs for us, we will be planning a 2012 convention tour and we will make appearances on both East and West Coasts of the US. It's my hope that in two years, we can attempt to go to a few international conventions. Australia, Scotland and the UK have been mentioned so far.

Please come out and support us as we make this big leap into the indie game scene and trust me, if you love "Destiny Revival," you will love the games we will announce in July!!! Looking for more Sailor Moon at this convention? Then check out the "Salad Time Soldiers," Ohio's premiere Sera Myu group!

I will definitely be attending, will you?

For more information about Glass City Con, you can visit their website http://www.glasscitycon.com

Oh, did I mention that this convention is FREE??? You have no reason to not check out this convention! (unless you live outside the states or something like that)

I plan to make a few more updates as I get more information from the convention planners. Hope to see you there!

Destiny Revival Posters are here!

Wow! It's just amazing how fast time has flown here! We saw the release of Code Name: Sailor V in late 2009 and now we're already in February of 2011!

To celebrate the upcoming release of Sailor Moon: Classic, our most definitive version of both the Super Famicom and Sega Megadrive games, webcomic artist and avid Sailor Moon fan, Kuroitenshi has created a one of a kind poster to commerate our 5-year endeavor and beyond.

This poster will be the 1st of 5 posters, each capturing the essence of the game that they represent. We're going to be selling this poster at various conventions throughout the year and will also be selling them online through Kuroitenshi's Bonanza page. For a list of the conventions that you can buy this poster from, please click on the "Upcoming Events" tab for more information.

Kuroitenshi also have several Sailor Moon fanart prints available on Bonanza. If you buy any of her larger sized prints along with the Destiny Revival poster, she will combine the shipping cost. Some may say that the shipping cost is a little high but we want to ensure that these posters will not get damaged so they will be shipped safely. If you have any questions or would like to order these posters directly from Kuroitenshi, you can visit her deviantArt page here and leave her a note.

The proceeds of this poster will be used to support Distant Star Games (formerly known as Kungpow Productions) as we venture into the indie game realm, working on original games that will be announced later this year.

*Note: This is the 1st Print run for these posters. We do plan on having more of them ran as demands increase.*

Happy Thanksgiving from Destiny Revival!

After 5 years of agonizing coding, ripping, blood, sweat and tears, Destiny Revival is turning 5 years old in 2010!!!

We looked long and hard at something that could use our attention to make this anniversary our best ever and we found it. Our first two games of the series, Sailor Moon Plus and Sailor Moon R Plus, were released in the early hay days of the OpenBoR Engine so today 3 and 4 years later respectfully, those engines are much older than we had anticipated, which for alot of you causes ALOT of problems. Forums all across the internet practically get flooded with people asking for help.

Today, I am pleased to announce that we will push back Makaiji's production back a bit so we can re-tweak, evolve, and excel on two revivals of our own, Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon Classic, which is the evolved form of Sailor Moon Plus and Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon R, again an "evolution" of Sailor Moon R Plus. These remakes will bring with them, first and foremost, updated versions of the first two games all of you have been playing for what seems like ages now. They will also bring new features that were not possible back in the early days. Just to name a few: HD Widescreen, New Locales, New Visuals, All New Voice Cast (with some VAs reprising their roles), and 16-bit color support!!!!

Introducing this revival is a little clip I put together of our journey through the 3 games we have released thus far, plus for the first time ever, you will have the opportunity to meet and greet the new voice of Usagi Tsukino, Sakky Forde, also known to many OC Senshi fans as Sailor Astera.

As we all sit down today at our tables munching on our Turkeys and dressing and what-have-you, let's give thanks to what makes us a family, a Sailor Moon community family. I definitely thank my lucky stars that there are fans out there that still appreciate this series even after 5 years into trying to reach that goal of the magical 5 games total. The course to get there might have changed quite a bit but I'm sure we'll get there and it'll be a great moment once we do.

Major Announcement Coming Soon!

Hi Everyone! Kungpow here...

I wanted to let everyone know that I will be making a Major Announcement about Destiny Revival on Thanksgiving here on the website. For the fans that have paid the most attention to the news lately, they have a hint of what's to come but for people that are new here, this announcement will make my previous news every bit as new for them.

We are all looking forward to 2010 with hope and optimism, especially with what's ahead but we also have to keep in mind that this is still a fan oriented project so project updates might not be as frequent as we would like in regards to the other members on the team, voice over staff and production staff alike.

Still, I think I speak for all of us on the Destiny Revival team when I say that with this latest announcement coming down the pipelines that we will not disappoint the fans and it'll be as every bit as amazing as the last 3 games we have released thus far.

(Hint: No, it's not a status update on Makaiji)

All New Game Plan!

Hey Everyone!

I'm sorry for not updating this website with news lately but I have been unable to access it. Now that I can, here is the latest news!

As of right now, I'm kicking production in high gear to finish Destiny Revival once and for all.

After many months of getting ourselves back together and ready for the final push, here is what I've decided to do for the sake of the team. I have made an executive decision to cancel Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon production on the Wii indefinitely. Why? For the simple fact that we don't have the manpower we need to finish a project of that magnitude. I'm not going to push my team that hard if I can see that we can't do it. Right now, we can't. With that being said however, Destiny Revival is not dead there. Infact, it's for the better.

Much like Promise of the Rose, I have promised a while back to include that very same scenario in Sailor Moon R. Sadly due to production restrictions and just for the urge of getting Sailor Moon R Plus pushed out to the fans, we didn't continue further on that project. Today I'm proud to say that I am back and I will make the Promise of the Rose scenario a reality in the 4th game to Destiny Revival: Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon R - Makaiju. Much like the name suggests, we are going to merge two of the greatest pieces of the Sailor Moon anime together into one game: The Makaiji arc featuring Ail and An and of course Promise of the Rose featuring Mamoru's long lost friend and slave to the Kisenian blossom, Fiore. What makes this possible is our revival of sorts to the first two games, PGSM Classic and PGSM R. Our engine will be optimized much better than it ever has and that'll make for some very interesting happenings in the 4th game.

We are not skipping a beat with Code Name Sailor V. You will realize that in the other remakes that the games will have updated difficulty and a few revisions done to the bosses. The reason for this is CNSV was our best Sailor Moon game thus far and we've decided that every game has to match that intensity in its gameplay and story telling. That's why Makaiju is so key right now.

That leaves the last game. Again for the sake of the team, I have decided to combine the concept of PGSM into what is now the new Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon S. The style of PGSM S will no longer be the Super Famicom style but will instead be of the arcade game. Everyone on the team agrees that since this is our final game that we should give the fans a game that should go down in the history of Sailor Moon fan games. ...but we're not in this for the glory. We're in this for the fans. We promised a five game series and we are going to finish our goal.

As we get closer to the release of the 5th game, I will make a big announcement as to how we, the fans, will celebrate the end of this outstanding series. I can only say right now that it will be "Legendary."

Recently at Otakon 2009, I had the opportunity to come out of hiding during the "World of Sailor Moon" Fan Panel which footage will be featured on Moon Chase Blog fairly soon. I mentioned to the fans that we will have the games done in 2 years time. My ultimate goal now is to finish all 5 games by 2012, the 15th Anniversary of the Sailor Moon Anime Series. I think it's very doable and with the team structured as it is now, I have total confidence in them all.

After the panel, I had a fan come up to me, who was at Otakon the previous year, told me that they wanted to see the game series completed. I can't tell you how proud I was to actually hear that. At Animazement 2009, I was there for a totally different reason and not for Destiny Revival. Again, after the Naoko Takeuchi Fan Panel that I was a Guest Panelist for, a fan approached me that recognized me from the Youtube segment posted of the panel at Otakon last year and wondered what the fate was of the games.

I'm here to say here and now that we will finish the games, no matter how long it takes us. That's where we stand.

Change Never Looked So Good

*Dusts Off the Website* I'm home! 2009 has been going fast hasn't it? Well, to ease that 09 Pain, I have some news to share with you guys concerning Destiny Revival.

The biggest news today is we have a new console that have joined our ranks, introducing the Sony Playstation 3!

I have received one of these behemeths from Canada and I'm ready to get to work on porting Sailor Moon S and Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon over to it post-haste! How Pretty Guardian will work on the PS3 will be discussed later. Now for the other bit of news.

The other big news I have is that I have decided to do some "Spring Cleaning" on all of the games released thus far. Some games might receive more maintenance than the others but the main thing I'm going to be changing however is the name of the games. They will no longer have "Plus" in the game. However, they will now be renamed to match Naoko Takeuchi's Millenium Revival first started with the manga series.

From this day forth, the games will be renamed as follows:

Code Name: Sailor V = Code Name: Sailor V
Sailor Moon Plus = Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon Classic
Sailor Moon R Plus = Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon R
Sailor Moon S Plus = Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon S
Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon = Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon

The games will be re-released in the next few months as "Collection Editions." The reason why I've done this is because, to be frank, Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon is taking longer than I would like and I want still want fans to know that I appreciate the loyality that you have given us for the past few years so, why not give you, the player and follower, the best that my team can offer by releasing optimized versions of the games which will add plenty of fixes or updates. Some games might even get new characters! It's up to you to find out who will get the new heroines and heroes!

Kungpow, reporting in...

Sorry I haven't been replying with any new updates lately but...I haven't had any to report.

The main to-do the last few weeks was saving my dying 6 year old File Server from a most certain death. It's a major importance because its one of my sources for backing up my edits and resources used for the Sailor Moon Games.

Thankfully I was able to save most of the files from the file server and everything is intact as far as my Sailor Moon resources are concerned.

Now that that's out of the way, I'm planning on making a personal trip to Philadelphia PA next week to clear my head yet again *Come on, Sailor V was hard enough compared to my now-constant pressure at work* but don't fret, fans. I plan on taking my laptop with me and enjoy the sights while working on Sailor Moon S.

As far as Pretty Guardian's and Sailor Moon S' status at Otakon is concerned, I'm not sure how that's going to hold up. I thought about booking a conference room or something near the convention and holding my own little party for all to attend (that is if the price isn't so friggen outrageous). Am I crazy? Yes. Do I love the series enough to exploit it to the public anyway I can? You better believe it.

I've worked on this thing ever since 2005 (back when it was just a tech demo) and if you think I'm going to put it down now, you better think again ^^

3! 3! 3! 3! V! V! V! V!

*Just think Italian when you say 3 and V back to yourself* ...moving on!

At long last, the weekend is finally here and that means that the release for Code Name: Sailor Vis here too!

In just UNDER a year, the Destiny Revival team has dished out one of the most action-packed, fast paced yet challenging title to-date out of all of the Sailor Moon games available today and in the past.

Thank you to the fans of Destiny Revival for all of your support and also to all of the loyal fans of Sailor Moon itself. It's because of you that we have pushed on to deliver this game to you guys.

...and now, we move onto our next project, Sailor Moon S, a title that will definitely test all of us but should be fun for all.

You can now download Code Name: Sailor V under Featured Games and we are offering 5 versions of the game: PC, Sega Dreamcast, Microsoft XBOX 1, Playstation Portable and Nintendo Wii.

Have fun with the game and join us at Sailor Moon.cc's Chat Room starting at Noon EST (5 PM GMT) Saturday (January 10th 2009) to discuss the game, give thanks to the DR team (which might be just me), and we can talk a bit about what's to come with Sailor Moon S.

Again, thanks for everything and remember,

Support Sailor Moon or..."In the Name of the Moon, I Will Punish you!"
